Strange military photos-- Obvious photoshops, name-tapes not matching, blurry/indistinguishable photos from far away, stock military photos, photos of CAC cards, questionable/inconsistent/high ranks (Generals don't typically troll FB looking for lady friends) 2. Many of us have had our pictures stolen and used for these scams-- DO NOT believe someone just because they have military photos.
So when you have someone asking you to fill out a form for them to go on leave, it is fake.
Also, we have no Soldiers stationed in Nigeria, all Soldiers deployed will have a military address that starts with APO- for Army Post Office or Air Force Post Office or FPO - Fleet Post Office for Navy and Marine Corps.
They use a network of other scammers to help build on this lie until the women send them money or other items.We get more than a dozen of these emails from women daily, mostly older women who believe they are truly American Soldiers.This has turned into a multi-million dollar a year business for them, they are good at it, and people fall for it everyday.We have seen so many, that it is very easy for us to pick up on the fake profiles.There are several red flags we look for, and we have saved literally hundreds of women from sending these scammers money.These people scam everyone-- but most often its older women.
