The stuff we watch is on channels with names like ABC, SBS2, 9HD etc.
The place marker shows a large "7" and "NEW CHANNEL COMING SOON" The broadcast is in SD 576i, HE-AAC 2.0 (the same compression specs as the Racing channel). The station confirmed Mandarin would be a focus but other languages might also be covered." Yeah. It's one tiny step better than the plethora of shopping channels on the commercial networks.
Regardless, Australian broadcasters don't transmit in 1080p – imagine the outrage if they did and those with older/lower quality TVs couldn't receive it lol!
I still don't understand all the bleating about non-MPEG4 TVs – nobody has lost anything.
That's more than likely, 76 might just be used for getting their settings right until they switch 7Bogan to SD, launch 7HD on 70 and also launch the language channel on 76, a language channel wouldn't require much bandwidth if it was SD MPEG-4, bandwith from 7Bogan would free up enough for 7HD to equal 9HD in PQ.
I don't understand why people bother talking about numbers like 7, 76, 90 etc.
